Magnet Outer Casing

Burhoe Machine Works was contacted by our customer to manufacture a small run of magnet casings used in an undersea microwave application. The project was put to bid to several machine shops and Burhoe Machine works was awarded the contract. The part manufacture included a multiple step heat treat process in an inert gas environment. Roundness on a 14” diameter thin wall part was held to less than .001”. Burhoe Machine works completed the work on time, in less than three weeks.

Machining took place at our modern 9,000 square foot facility, and was subjected to our rigorous testing and quality controls including dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and first article inspection reporting. This part was also RoHS compliant. Typical turnaround time for a project of this magnitude is 3 – 5 weeks.

Vacuum Chamber

Burhoe Machine Works was contacted by our customer to manufacture two transfer vacuum chambers with a high polish on the inside. The chamber has a mounting pattern on the inside for a pick and place robot.

Machining took place at our modern 9,000 square foot facility, and was subjected to our rigorous testing and quality controls including dimensional inspection, visual inspection, and first article inspection reporting. This part was also RoHS compliant. Typical turnaround time for a project of this magnitude is 3 – 5 weeks.

Gearbox Components

Burhoe Machine works manufactures gearbox and associated components for several industries including aerospace and automotive racing. In one recent example, an engineering firm contacted Burhoe Machine Works to manufacture a gearbox for testing engines for a builder of NASCAR engines. Burhoe staff worked directly with the engineer in charge of the project to build the majority of components including the carburized 8620 gears, aluminum gearbox housings, and various shafts.

Medical Device

Burhoe Machine Works was contacted by an existing customer to analyze and improve a design and then manufacture the parts for resistance welding platinum ends to several wires. The process requires several components, down to .002” to be held precisely. Burhoe Machine Works can work with extremely small features, inspect under magnification, and verify dimensions on the medical tooling that we produce. Annular Seal for Sub Sea Oilfield Use

Burhoe Machine Works was contacted to bid on and subsequently manufacture annulus seals or “packoff rings” to attach and seal casings to wellheads in deep water, deep well applications. Since our initial manufacture of annulus seals in 2007, Burhoe has continued to manufacture these products on demand to customer specifications. Several processed are involved, including, CNC turning, magnetic particle inspection, X ray inspection, Electron Beam welding, rubber molding, silver plating, and cadmium plating.
